Overview

Hydroxy[3-(6-methylpyridin-2-YL)propyl]formamide is a synthetic small molecule inhibitor of peptide deformylase, an enzyme involved in the removal of formyl groups from nascent proteins in bacteria. By inhibiting peptide deformylase, this compound disrupts bacterial protein maturation and has been investigated as a potential antibacterial agent. It is considered experimental and has not been approved for clinical use. The compound is also known by code names such as SB-505684 and SB9[1][5][7].
